Get Focused

Introduction
Having a lack of focus is a problem which affects all of us in our daily life.
In the world of Email and Social Media like Facebook, Twitter, PInterest it is
very easy to get off track and be distracted. There are times when you have made
up your mind in doing a particular task but you feel distracted. Also YouTube
and Television can be quite addictive and it is very easy to be swayed by these
distractions and forget about our goals and task at hand.
Does this sound familiar?
Well we all go through these problems and we are unable to focus on the things
which really matter the most. So I have written down a few tips which would help
you get focused and be on track to achieve your goals and objectives.
1.
Set your Goals.
This is the most important first step to take. You must identify what exactly
you want to achieve, for this you must write down your goals. Choose goals which
are realistic and which you feel you can achieve. If your goal is big, try
dividing your goal into smaller Sub goals, this makes it easier to manage your
progress towards your set goal.
2.
Announce your goals.
It is very important that you write down your goals and announce it to your
trusted inner circle this could be your friends or family. Announcing your goals
makes you accountable towards your goal and your inner circle will ensure that
you are on track by prompting you whenever you waver from your goal.
3.
Maintain a time Log.
Maintain a log of what you do exactly in a given day write down every minute
detail and log the exact time it takes you to do a task. Repeat this step over a
few days. This exercise will help you identify your routine work schedule. This
leads us to step 4 in the process.
4.
Discover your most productive time.
From the above step you should mark out the time where you feel the most
productive. This is the time where you should focus on you most important task
which leads towards achieving your set goal.
5.
Have a To Do List.
Making a mental note of things to do has its disadvantages so its always
advisable to write down a list of things you have to do, also called a To Do
List. Nowadays smart phones or tablet devices come with To Do Lists Software
built in which can help you log the same. Also you could log the same on paper.
6.
Prioritize your To Do List.
Move the most important tasks to the top of the To Do List. This exercise will
help you concentrate on the most important tasks at hand and eliminate tasks
which are not so important. On completion of a task put a tick mark against the
task completed.
7.
Commit time for Action.
Now that you have zeroed in on your most productive time, and the most important
tasks, its time to take action. Commit this time for working on your task and
focus your attention on making progress in your task.
8.
Perseverance.
"Perseverance is not a long race. It is many short races, one after another" –
Walter Elliot.
Work on your task on a regular basis and you will see that these small
increments of daily work will lead to great results which will ultimately propel
you towards the goal that you have set for yourself.
Remember the light bulb would have never been invented had Thomas Edison not
tried persistently. Michael Jordan would not have been an ace basketball star
had he given up on setbacks or failures.
9.
Avoid Overwhelm.
During a typical workday you may start to receive a lot of tasks from different
people. Check to see if these tasks are important and are relevant to your job
or goals. If they are not, learn to say no to such tasks and give your reasoning
behind not accepting the task, also you may suggest an alternative. Delegating
trivial tasks could also help you avoid overwhelm.
10.
Eliminate Distractions.
Checking Email, Television and browsing the internet takes up a lot of our
productive time. The best way to combat these distractions is to set specific
times of the day where you can do such activities. Stick to these scheduled
times for the above mentioned activities.
11. Learn to Relax and Take Breaks.
Resting and relaxing is key to staying focused so do not compromise on this. Take
short breaks during the day try deep breathing exercises, try to concentrate
when you inhale and exhale. Take a walk this helps you to relax your mind
and ponder over fresh ideas. Drink water to stay hydrated. Have a nice sleep,
this keeps your mind energized and prepared for difficult tasks.
12.
Enjoy your success.
Finally remember to enjoy your success with your friends and family. This will
motivate you and boost your morale, which in turn prepares you for your next
goal.
So Stay Focused!!!
